Black Belts & Instructors

Mr. Peterson has practiced martial arts for over 20 years; learning under Mrs. Currie for 12 of those years. He started leading classes since 2023 and is currently the head instructor of the Rochester branch.

Mrs. Larsen trained under Mrs. Currie for just over 12 year and values the learning experience American States Karate offers.

Mr. Keister has been assisting in teaching since 2025, and is the main assistant instructor for the teen class. He's had martial arts in several other schools before joining us in 2020.

Ms. Keister earned her black belt at A.S.K. in summer of 2026, and has had previous experience at multiple other taekwondo schools before joining us in 2019.

Ms. Jasmine joined A.S.K. in 2022 and has assisted with Little Dragons, Youth Karate, and the 12-week Self-Defense Course.

Mrs. Currie launched the American States Karate Rochester branch in 1999 and now serves as the Senior Member on the Black Belt Panel.

Long-time student and instructor of 32 years. She recently retired and is the most active judge for the Rochester area.

Retired Instructor of 20+ years. Currently, she is a sitting member of the Black Belt Panel.
